We are upgrading to 7.5 out of necessity, but have a handful of nodes that use SSR-2013, which apparently is not supported by SMP 7.5. What exactly are we supposed to do? Are we supposed to run a 7.1 NS in parallel and keep those nodes on it? I can't seem to find any tech docs beyond those saying it's not supported.

Can someone please confirm I can use Symantec System Recovery Desktop on Windows 8.1 Home Premium?
The compatibility document uploaded to your site states this product only works with enterprise and professional versions of Windows 8.1.
Nevertheless, a symantec representative months ago over the phone told me it will still work with home premium. Can someone please confirm?
thanks
We are running Symantec System Recovery 2013 on a Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard.
When attempting to backup the C: system partition we are not given the option to back up the system reserved as well? Currently therefore only backing up the C: and E: drives.
We have noticed the previous IT support company used the standard Windows backup to back up the server including the system reserved. This is still in place.
Many thanks
I have tried to produce a bootable USB drive using Symantec System recovery v11.0.2 to boot my Surface Pro 3 in Win 8.1. The Symantec System Recovery program appears to have successfully produced a bootable USB drive but it does not boot with my surface pro 3. I can make a USB bootable drive with my surface pro 3 as part of Win 8.1 and it does boot to restore my surface pro 3 to the way it was received from the factory. The SSR made bootable USB I made was to a fat32. I copied an ISO of the 64 bit Symantec boot disk to my surface pro 3 and then used it to produce the Symanted System recovery USB in the Symantec System Recovery program. I did not select to make it customizeable. Do I need any additional drivers or knowledge to make a working Symantec System Recovery USB drive? Hopefully if I can get it to boot I could then restore from another USB flash drive that has an Symantec Image (backup) of my system in the event of disaster.

The new 2013 version will no longer run the scheduled backup unless the user is logged on. Even when the user is logged on the program always asks first if it should run the backup NOW! Isn't that the point of having a schedule in the first place. If you don't click yes to run now, I believe it doesn't run. I could be wrong about that and it may default to yes.
Anyway when nobody is logged on, how do you make it always run backups?
Thanks,
Hi,
I have been going around in circles with using SSR 2013.
First of all was unable to deploy to a computer, that was solved buy just installing locally.
Next once installed and rebooted the monitor refuses to connect to the machine.
1) Computer is connected to the network.
2) firewall is OFF, plus was using SEP firewall and SEP service is stopped too.
3) Software not installed - it is!
4) User credentails are incorrect, checked and double checked all OK.
5) UAC disabled
I'm stuck nothing is work, help!!!
I am testing a standard recovery disk on a Dell Optiplex 790 which has an Intel 82579LM NIC. Although there are several Intel drivers provided on the disk, and they install successfully (using the Load Driver option) I am unable to configure the IP settings in the recovery environment. I tried installin ALL of the Intel drivers listed. My question is: Will I have to create a custom recovery disk with the specific driver for this computer, or is there a more generic driver on the disk under a different manufacturer?
I'm using BESR 2010.
Thank you.
I guess I don't need to uninstall tne old version but I can't find the answer in the documentation and I've had some problems with my computer thats now solved so I'm playing safe for a while,
Latest version a SSR 2013, 11.0.2.49853 on Win 8.1 on 2 computers.
On one it is set for 3 Independent Recover points for a backup set of C:, an ESP drive, and K: totaling about 170GB's on a 1 TB drive with other objects and 355Gb's free. No problems.
On the other Win8.1 computer (that is not uEFI BIOS) it was set for 4 Ind. Recovery points of C:, D:, and E:, of about 155GB's total on a 1TB drive with 455Gb's free. For whatever reason ONLY 2 iterations are saved? It deletes the oldest one after it completes the backup process according to the LOG? So it had enough room clearly? I changed the setting to 9, maybe it counted each drive letter as one? Same results?
Disk space used for backups is set to 900GB's so it isn't the cause?
Suggestions? I'd like to have 4 copies (run once a week) of each drive available.
hi,
I have to mastering many computers in a very short period of time,
Use the Quick Tools Ghost Server and launch the image for ethernet it takes too long time.
The internal data transfer is faster than ethernet.
The image takes up 40gb.
There is possibility of cloning multiple hard drives with norton ghost?
I hope answer.
Thanks for the help
Hi All,
I installed SSR 2013 R2 to Windows 7.
Does Anyone know, how to run a manual full backup of C drive from command line in SSR 2013?
What is the command to run a backup?
Regards.
To create a new (extended) System Recovery Disc under SSR 2013 R2 I learnt that I need to install Windows ADK before.
Can I delete ADK after the creation of the Recovery Disc again to save disc space?
Thanks in advance for your support
Michael
Hi!
I have installed SSR 2013 (R1) on about 10 current Dell Optiplex PCs with Win 8.1 Pro (Update 1). I have setup two simple daily backups: One full backup to a server on my network and one incremental to a PC's local HDD. On every PC now and then the incremental backups fail with the strange error:
EBAB03F8: 'CHECK failed, Computer::CreateImageFile: Computer.cpp(1517): guid != Guid() && sequence != 0xffffffff && sequence > 0.'. (UMI:V-281-3215-6071)
This means that the incremental backups cannot be created successfully for some unknown reason and a new base has to be recreated next time the backup runs. This is really annoying and I had reported this error in the past without receiving any solution here in the forums. Now I hoped that SSR 2013 R2 would finally solve the problem but it did not. I upgraded one PC to SSR 2013 R2 (yes you really have to pay for this "updgrade") and the same error occurs again.
The main error reference I found is this: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...
I wonder how long Symantec needs to get this hotfix tested and merged into the release. I am getting this error on each of my PCs and I am seriously considering to switch to a different backup product if the issue is not going to be solved immediately because it makes the program useless.
Other knowledge base articles state that the error might be caused by another backup program installed. There is no such program installed. Anti-virus used is from Symantec (Norton Internet Security) so this should have been tested at least to work ok...

Hello guys
I am running symantec system recovery 2013 on my Windows server 2008 R2 Standard and I have come across the following errors while backing up to my Network Storage Device.
Appreciate if someone could help solve this issue.
Error EC8F17D8: Cannot complete consolidation of incremental recovery points. (on my C:\ Drive - OS)
Error EC8F17D9: Cannot complete consolidation of incremental recovery points. (on my D:\ Drive - DATA PARTITION)
Error EBAB03F1: Following Operating System error occurred while performing requested operation: 'The parameter is incorrect.' (UMI.V-281-3215-6105)
Details: The parameter is incorrect.
Hi, I would like to know the difference between Symantec System Recovery for desktop & Desktop Laptop option?
I've got this issue, we are using SSR MS 2013 and I want to upgrade to SSR MS 2013 R2 however when I use SIM (Symantec Installation Manager) it shows the Installer and SSR MS 2013 R2 as new products.
When I select these products the installer then recognizes that these products are already installed albeit an earlier version and then suggests that I use the Upgrade Installed Products link.
However the only thing available under there is the SMP 7.5 which I don't want to install as it will remove SSR MS 2013.
The question is why isn't SSR MS 2013 R" and the latest version of SIM showing under "Upgrade installed products"
Hope I'm making sense.
After taking over for another company we found that backups on one of the 6 servers were not backing up. When I investigated the issues further it seems the client is failing on that particular server. I tried to run a repair/uninstall/modify and on all three of them it "failed installation" and will not allow me to do anymore. my instant thought was hard uninstall it by erasing the folders for it and then try re installing it that way, but figured I would try here before I took it in my own hands. I have tried deploying from the control server and its not deploying to the client machine.
Just to add I have checked the firewall and ports to make sure that this was done correctly. Any information or what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
