I need a solution

Hi

I've installed SSR2013 on a W2k8 R2 x64 Server and am trying to deploy the agent out to various other servers

of the same kind.  This deployment is taking on average - 16 minutes!!!!!  Longer than it takes to install the full blown

product?  Is this normal?  Can I speed it up?

Thanks

Cindy

HD Image Deployment, recovery tool by symantec?

I need a solution

Hallo.

Offsite Copy - Copy Latest Full Recovery Set Only??

I need a solution

I use SSR to backup a number of servers.  I do a full recovery point set on weekends and then incrementals daily.   My onsite backup destination is able to hold 4 recovery point sets.   I want to be able to just copy the most recent recovery point set to store offsite.  Is there a way to do this within SSR without getting all 4 sets.   The Offsite copy option looks like it would try to copy all 4 sets.   For offsite DR only the most recent set is important to me.

SSR2013 no scheduled backup of UEFI partition

I need a solution

Trying to schedule a backup of system drive c on a regulary basis.

C contains win8 x64 uefi install. C is located on a SSD. On the same SSD there are also hidden partitions.

Partitionlayout: 300MB Win8 recovery partition, 100 MB Fat32 EFI Systempartition, C-Drive

In Diskmanager it is not possible to assign a drive letter to the recovery or EFI partition.

In SSR2013 i define a volume backup of drive C. In the next screen SSR2013 recommends to add also to this backup the other two partitions. (Regarding the physical partition layout the SSR2013 list of partitions are ordered by size? (1. Efi, 2. Recovery partition))

This seems to be correct.

I hit continue.

Now the next screen shows the recovery type: It is not possible to create a set! It is only possible to create an independent backup!

A Message tells me that i can't create a set because of a hidden partition which has no Driveletter assigned.

If i deselct the EFI-Partition and only the recovery partition and the C-partition is selected i can create a backup set - so the problem is the Efi-partition. I deselect the Efi-partition select the other parameters -do initial backup - no problem at all. The hidden recovery partition and drive c was backuped.

Now i changed the backup definition and added the Efi-Partition - which is accepted. Also the Drives are shown correct: Recovery (*:\);(*:\);System (C:\).

I now do again a backup - a new full backup is done - but without the Efi-Partition.

I tried then to define a backup from the Efi-Partition only. SSR2013 is asking me if i want do add this backup to an already definded backup - i select yes, selected the C-Drive backup - which is accepted. Doing a backup will not safe the Efi-Partition.

I defined now a new backup from the efi partition allone, not adding to the other backup. I can't create a backup-set on regulary basis - so i chose an independent backup. I started the backup manually - voila: Efi-Partition was saved.

Question: How do i do a backup of a full harddrive with all partitions on it on a regulary basis? (Like SSR2013 is recommending it) and other solutions are doing it?

Thanks
Thorsten

I need a solution

I am missing one of the incremental files.  It is file Drive_20_i024.iv2i.  There are 41 files.  Is there any way to open any of the files between 25-41? I do not know where this file is.  I back up the files on an offsite drive and I cannot find it there either.  Is there any way to bridge this gap?

ESATA drive does not appear in SSR 2011 (and in BESR 8.0 also not)

I need a solution

Well, for some days I run SSR 2011 on Win7-64, all fine, but yesterday I attached my ESATA drive – an it is not displayed in SSR. I wanted to use it as Offsite drive an I only attach it a few times in a month.  I can See it in Explorer, I can use it as a backup target, but I cant use it as offsite drive because ist is not recognized. I deleted the Folder VproRecovery – without any sucees. I Changed the Drive Letter – same. I can also attach the Drive via USB – same. How can i manage to get this drive to appear in SSR2011? (on another partition, I run BESR8.0 on WinXP, here also the drive doesn't appear. But i remember it did appear there, months ago when I used it last) .

Any Idea what to do?

Nice REgards

Grenular Restore keeps dimounting drives

I need a solution

Hi,

When i load a recovery point from a Exchange 2007 server incremental backup in Granular Restore, it keeps saying 'Loading Recovery Point' in the lower left corner and i am left with a blank GRO screen.

When i open a Windows Explorer session, I see that GRO is mounting my disk, but after 1 or 2 seconds it is dismounting that disc. It does this for some time. It then goes to the next disk and the same procedure starts again. It does this for all 3 disks I have in the Recovery Point. After the last disk, it goes back to the first disk and all starts over again.

I can succesfully open and mount the recovery disks in the Recovery Point Browser, but I must use GRO because I need to recover some email items.

The backup is password protected. I'm not recieving any error messages. My server is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64. Outlook 2010 is installed.

Could some please explain what is going on with GRO?

many thanks in advance.

Recovering D: drive and I have two D: drive files.. How to do this??

I need a solution

I created a backup image of the D: drive on my server 19 days ago.  Then I did another backup for the D drive 8 hours ago.  I think that it only backed up what had changed on the D: drive because the image is much smaller.

We are putting larger drives in for the second array.  Currently I am doing a recovery using the backup image from 19 days ago.  How do I do the second recovery from 8 hours ago to just update the files that were changed??

Hope this makes sense.

Am doing this right now so any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Cathy

Using Multiple Drives for Storing Recovery Points

I need a solution

Hi - I'm in a situation where I have to backup about 3TB of storage to external HDs. I have two 2TB drives attached to the machine, is there a way to use both of them for recovery point storage? Since they're USB, I can't convert to dynamic and extend volumes, and I honestly don't know if that works with SSR or is even safe to do.

Thoughts?

Sony Laptop with system recovery 2013 not seeing drives

I need a solution

We have a brand new Windows 8 Laptop we have just installed System Recovery 2013 on and it is not seeing the internal hard drive or the external drives when we go to do a disaster recovery backup.  Windows sees the internal drives and external drives just fine.  The internal drive is a 500 Gig Hard Drive.  The external drive is a western digitial 3TB Mybook.  When you go into the create a backup of my machine all we see is a system reserved partition on 2TB.  Not sure where it is getting that.  That drive only shows up if you check the show hidden drives box.  The laptop is set to boot EUFI.  According to my research System recovery 2013 is supposed to support that but I am posting just in case.  Thank you.

Case 600-781-163 (SSR2011) - Fixed issue in SSR2013

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

I had the following issue/case in SSR2011. Not fixed in SSR2011. Symantec fixed in SSR2013

Case 600-781-163 Event triggers cause machine to hang. Eventually the machine would run out of resources and hang. Finally fixed in SSR2013.

Problem using SSR 2011 when I configure the Event Triggers, under the General tab, "Any application is installed or uninstalled" the "handle count" as seen in the task manager increments until the machine locks up.

I need a solution

Hi,

I'm using SSR2011 and on one machine with ESATA-Drive SSR2011 does not show any drive that can be backed up.

According to http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag... I would like to remove the extended partition, but in Windows Disk Management no extended partition is shown.

Any idea how to fix this problem?

Thx

Update:

Removed extended partition with Partition Manager. But still no drives to backup. :-(

Can't map to network storage after booting from ssr2013 recovery disk

I need a solution

I'm trying to recover a win2k8 machine using SSR2013.  I boot from the x64 recovery disk, set up the network and am able

to ping other machines.  I then try to map to my EMC VNXe3100 Network Storage device where my images reside.

The EMC storage device is in a domain.

I select

Folder : \\machinename\share

then select "Connect using a different user name"

Username: domain\username

Password: xxxxx

I get an error popup saying "An extended error has occured"

I am able to ping the EMC device so I have network connectivity.

I am able to map to the same EMC device using a running Win2k8 server machine which is not in the domain

by using the same domain\username and password as I use when trying to map from SSR2013.  I am also able to

map to the same EMC device using the SSR2011 Recovery Disk.
