Hello everyone,
Please, I need help with this one:
when I try to deploy the agent on another laptop on my workgrouop the next error appears:
-Error E0D3EBC0: Cannot deploy the Agent to USER-PC.
Dear Symantec,
I am getting this:
Date: 8/13/2013 0:01:28 AM
Notification Type: Error
Priority: High
Description: Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: Drive Backup of System Reserved (*:\), (C:\), RBD (D:\).
Error E0BB0184: There is not enough free space to maintain snapshot image on volume D:\.
Details: 0xE0BB0184
Our system is W2008R2 x64 SP1
The Hidden partition \ backs up
The C: partition backs up
The D: partition fails with the above error.
The D: partition is 12TB and has been working.
I installed a 1 TB NTFS USB drive as drive E: (empty) and executed "VSSADMIN add shadowstorage /for=D: /on=E: /maxsize=unbounded"--still fails after 12 hours.
Now all of this worked before. The C: drive is W2008R2 with Hyper-V and drive D: contains 4 VMs (all Win2008R2) with C and D drives.
Since the documentation made no mention of required free space on D: to do the snapshot, Drive D; was essentially completely used by the VMs.
Now after the fact, it is noted that up to 25% of the volume needs set aside for shadow storage...
It also seems that Symantec used their own provider with none of the VSSADMIN utilities. Nonetheless it looks as though the new BESR 2013 does use the MS VSS. Your design seems amateur. Why would the drive being backed up need to be written to ?---potentially corrupting the drive being backed up--this is horrible engineering.
Since your documentation is grade school level and your logs are encrypted..how does a company that trusted you get around this dilemma?
Our options:
1. Symantec provides a solution to a poorly designed product.
2. Put BESR 2011 in each VM and the host Partition. Although we were told that the above procedure would work. That is backup \, C, and D:. We do have 4 or 5 licenses.
3. Buy another non-semantic product.
Hope you can help.
Doug
Hello every body,
This is my first post, hope be clear to explain my doubt:
Scenario:
- 2 Win-2008R2 Servers
- SQL 2008 Cluster (just one instance)
I'm using SSR-2013 to backup Physical Servers.
Is there any best practice to install it? On Nonde1 or Node2 or Both?
Thank you in advance.
Regards
I have a ghost image I need to restore to a non-functional computer. I downloaded an SSR trial since Ghost is no longer available. When I try to install it so I can create a bootable USB and stick the ghost image on it, it wants to examine my laptop and make the image to only work with it. This does not sound to me like it will work for the non-functional computer which has completely different hardware. so how do I make this work to replace Ghost because it doesn't sound like it really replaces Ghost at all.

I am getting following error:
Error EC8F1780: Cannot successfully reconcile changes since last session.
Error EC8F1771: Cannot enumerate the current drives on this system.
Error E0BB0147: The operation 'Snap Volume' is not currently enabled for this Volume.

Tech article # 209599 seems to apply but says it is for Server 2008.
Is the solution applicable to Win7?
Thanx
Sorry if this is a duplicate post
We use SSR 2011 to create images of two VM's. We swap USB drives out weekly. Just recently, I've observed that if we reboot the server or disconnect the USB drives and reconnected them, when the backup runs, it creates a full backup of the drives, not an incremental image as expected.
Just to be clear, I'm using the Full and Incremental nomenclature, but we are not doing file system backups, we are creating images.
We were using VMware ESX 4.1 and switched to Hyper-v servers. I'm using a third party USB redirector to get the USB drives to mount on the VM's
Bonjour,
Comment faire svp? Merci
I am about to purchase system recovery 2013 desktop edition. I cannot seem to find anyone who will still sells the digital version of 2011 (which the rest of my pc's use).
The question, is it possible to get a downgrade license from Symantec for 2011 if I purchase a copy of 2013?
States that internet connection is required - it has a working internet connection. I have run updates from the live up under "help". This just quit working.
Anyone else?
Hi all,
I am trying to install the Backup Exec System Recovey 2010 Management Solution Plug In but I keep getting the message below.
It is Windows Server 2003 SP1, with BE 2010 installed.
There are no other versions installed on this machine.
Anyone come across this before?
I have a question regarding the section of restoring an image where it detects the un-initialize disks. On my screenshotd you see I have disk 0 and disk 1. However on the initialize disk structure, it displays disk 2 with 0 bytes of size. How come it'd not displaying disk 1? Where is disk 2 coming from?
SSR 2013 hangs at 5% when performing backup, the machine is running Xp SP3 with 2GB of memory. All of the hard Drives have plenty of space. Looks like it is having a problem with the snap shot. Progress messasge says it is Creating Snapshot and snaping drives.
The backup is an independant backup of 3 drives. C: drive, D: Drive which is I assume HP's recovery drive, J: drive which is a local drive with just their data files. Runs all night and never moves past 5%.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I have Windows 7 and SSR 2013 installed on a machine (machine 1). I have an other machine (machine 2) that has Windows 7 installed on a CF card. Machine 2 only has this CF card installed as a system disk. Now I want to plugin the CF card from my machine 2 into the running machine 1 using a card reader and then perform a backup of the whole CF card. The CF card shows correctly in the harddisk management of machine 1 (see attachment 1). SSR2013, however, does not show me one of the volumes on that CF card (see attachment 2).
How can I get SSR 2013 to backup my CF card?
I need to backup the whole image, somehow, I wish to backup C:,G:,EFI partition, system state
E:(NTFS) is when the truecrypt is unmounted,
G:(NTFS) is when the truecrypt is mounted and unencrypted
Using SSR, still unable to backup
This is the error I got in SSR:
Error EC8F17B7 Cannot create recovery points for job :Backup of xx.xxx.xxx.xxx Error E4F3000E:Snapshot failure while using Volume Shadow Copy Service, Check Application event log for VSS errors:
Error code:VSS_E_PROVIDER_VETO
Has anyone successfully backup before a truecrypt drive(not system drive)using SSR2013?
I just want to create a image as a whole so that I can restore the computer based on the image file, and do not need to reinstall again
When I went to buy Norton Ghost, I was told it was discontinued, but that I could have a 60 day free trial of Symantec System Recovery 2013. Based on what I've seen so far, I won't be buying at the end of the trial, but perhaps someone here can actually give me an answer that works.
Here's my requirement:
1) Make a COMPLETE image backup from my Windows 7 laptop to an external hard drive (3 TB; there are no space problems)
2) Restore that image from the external HD to a new blank laptop, and have it boot up to EXACTLY the system configuration I have now on the existing laptop WITHOUT having to reload all (any) of the software. All the software on the current laptop is fully licensed. The existing laptop will just be a back-up machine once this transfer is complete.
Here's my problem:
The "on-screen" walk-through for creating this kind of image back-up is ambiguous and confusing at best. The instructions (read me) are COMPLETELY OPAQUE about how to do this. I talked to at least 6 people between Norton and Symantec on Friday, and not a soul was able to help me. They just passed me off to someone else who couldn't help (some ESL problems involved in this process...).
So, what I'm looking for is a clear set of step-by-step instructions for meeting my requirement, or a clear line to someone at Symantec who can provide it.
Thanks,
TCS
